Faubourg Power Plant
The Faubourg hydroelectric plant is located in Valdigne, as the northwestern part of the region is called. Specifically, it is located in the municipality of La Thuile, the westernmost in the Aosta Valley. The plant has a flow rate of 4.5 m3 per second and its total capacity is 10.6 MW. Two units equipped with Pelton turbines are used to generate 100% clean hydropower. The Faubourg power plant, which is modern and has quality facilities, was built with the subsidiary company Valdigne Energie. It went into operation in 2010 and is now a structure available to the entire Aosta Valley community. It took five years of construction and the work of professionals, technicians, labourers and machinists to bring to life everyday geometries and mechanisms that harness the power of water by transforming it into renewable energy.
Faubourg, architecturally well integrated into the landscape, is visible while driving up the road toward the Little St. Bernard Pass-where it captures its waters-on the border with France.
